Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate is a water-soluble derivative of azelaic acid, created by attaching glycine molecules to make it gentler and easier to formulate in water-based products, while aiming to retain a similar mechanism of action.

What does it actually do?

Azelaic acid measurably improves texture, redness and blemish-prone skin. According to PubMed, an 8-week randomized, vehicle-controlled split-face study (Gaudicheau C, Ahlström M, Gillbro JM, Åkerström U. “Efficacy and safety of a novel anhydrous 0.1% retinal and 10% azelaic acid concentrate for blemish-prone skin.” International Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2026) found a formulation combining azelaic acid with retinal significantly improved skin texture (10.9%), surface irregularities (24.8%) and redness (13.2%) compared with baseline.
